Installed where >475mm of height can be made available between the bathroom floor level and ground.
Split Systems are the largest type of batch or continuous composting toilet. The compost treatment tank/chamber below the bathroom floor is separated from the toilet pedestal by a waste chute.
There are two types of Split Systems
Wet systems: Toilet pedestal with a 500mL microflush moves solid waste along the narrow waste chute run almost horizontally. Available on Sun-Mar Centrex models only.
Dry systems: Use a waterless toilet pedestal with a wide (250mm) waste chute of a variable length that sits inline between the compost chamber directly below the bathroom floor.
The Sun-Mar Centrex system range is a split system, also known as an underfloor model. This means that the holding chamber is separate from the actual toilet pedestal itself. The major advantage of these systems is that they allow for greater holding capacity and therefore tend to be lower maintenance. If you have below-floor space for installation, then this is the range for you.

If you’re in a large household with extended family, then it’s especially important that you choose a composting toilet that will meet the demands of your household. The CM14 has a capacity of 8-9 people for full-time use. That makes this system a great choice for large family homes, and also small public facilities.
The CM40 Next-Gen is the largest of the Clivus Multrum range and is a split unit (below-floor) composting toilet system designed to be used by medium to high usage public facilities, such as public restrooms, roadside stops, national parks, visitors' centres, beaches and campsites.
