WCTNZ® only endorses 100% natural, non-toxic cleaners and additives that are safe for composting toilet use.

These products use enzymes and beneficial microbes to clean and deodorise without killing the microorganisms that drive composting. In practice, a small amount of water and an enzyme-based spray is all that is needed for cleaning. Bleach, ammonia, and anti-bacterial soaps should not be used, as such harsh chemicals can kill the good bacteria in your compost pile and undo the waste treatment process.

Instead, our approved cleaners break down organic residues into harmless compounds and support the composting environment with added enzymes and beneficial biology, helping keep the system active and supporting odour control.

Approved Cleaning Approach

Our flagship cleaner is Nature Flush™ Enzymes, a plant-derived, multi-enzyme solution safe for all waterless composting toilets. It is fully biodegradable and adds beneficial enzymes back into the pile, improving pH balance and helping natural bacteria thrive.

In short, Nature Flush™ thoroughly cleans bowls, seats, and fixtures and facilitates the composting process rather than disrupting it. Regular light cleaning with this compost-safe enzyme cleaner keeps your toilet hygienic. Just spray, wipe, and rinse with a little water. Even in an off-grid RV, a bit of water will not hurt the compost.

Approved Compost Treatments & Additives

Where needed, WCTNZ® also uses targeted microbial additives and bulking-based balancing products to treat the compost itself.

For example, WCTNZ® Microbiota MicrobeBURST™ is a concentrated mix of beneficial bacteria that acts as a catalyst and facilitates the conversion of waste into nutrient-rich compost. Adding a scoop of MicrobeBURST™ can help jump-start a new system or revive a stalled pile by boosting microbial activity and supporting odour control.

Likewise, Compost Green™ and Compost Black™ are fine carbon-based powders that absorb excess moisture and ammonia. These treatments help balance wet or smelly piles by buffering pH and promoting thermal breakdown. In use, they absorb ammonia, help balance pH levels, and encourage bacterial growth by maximising surface area for microbial activity.
