CompoCloset™ How to Start your System

    Preparing the Solids Chamber

Before you start using your CompoCloset™ composting toilet system, you need to prepare the solids chamber by adding bulking agent.

Systems with agitators—remove the solids chamber from the housing, pour bulking agent into the solids chamber until it covers the top of the agitator legs by about 20mm, place the chamber back into the housing.

Systems without agitators—remove the solids chamber from the housing, line it with a compostable bag, put a 50mm layer of bulking agent across the bottom, place the chamber back into the housing.

Note: The handle of the solids chamber can rest either on top of or behind the liquids chamber. Many users prefer positioning the handle behind, as the liquids chamber is usually emptied more often than the solids chamber.

    Recommended Bulking Agent

CompoCloset™ Urine Diversion to Container systems work best with a fine, moist bulking agent.

The top recommendation is coco peat, due to its fine texture and high hydroscopic properties.

Prepare your coco peat by hydrating it with water, letting is expand, and breaking it up into fibres.
