Sun-Mar™ Spacesaver 240 is a fantastic choice for baches, sleep-outs, cabins, or any location where there is access to a reliable power supply.
Featuring Sun-Mar's™ patented Bio-drum™ technology, the Spacesaver is a true composting system that processes the compost in two stages within the unit itself.
The Spacesaver is a Bio-drum™ toilet that is very simple to operate, features well-proven technology, and is extremely reliable.
Spacesaver 240 has enough capacity to be used in tiny homes, sleep-outs, sheds, cabins, or baches.
Featuring Sun-Mar's unique Three-Chamber Design, the Spacesaver optimizes composting by staging the process and creating optimum environments at each stage. The Bio-drum™ receives a combination of waste and bulking agent to create the right composting balance. Excess liquids are drained into the Evaporation Chamber, from which they are evaporated with a heating element. Rotating the Bio-drum breaks up and aerates the compost, ensuring aerobic decomposition. Finally, the Finishing Tray matures compost and prepares it for burial.
The Spacesaver is actively fanned for aeration and odour-free operation. A 2" vent is attached at the top back of the unit and can be installed invisibly by running it through the wall and up the outside wall.
For comfort, the Spacesaver has a sturdy, detachable footrest that can be removed to pull out the finishing drawer.
In normal use, the Spacesaver can evaporate all liquids, however, a 1" emergency drain is fitted at the rear for overflow, to ensure effective performance in case the toilet is used heavily or if prolonged power outages occur.

NSF/ANSI 41 Standard - Non-Liquid Saturated Treatment Systems
To simulate residential use the Spacesaver was tested by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) at maximum capacity for 6 continuous months, during which the it produced no odour and a clean, safe compost. Only Sun-Mar self-contained units are listed for residential and cottage use by NSF, whose Standard #41 is the toughest composting performance standard in the world.

THERE IS ONLY ONE PERFORMANCE STANDARD FOR COMPOSTING TOILETS IN NORTH AMERICA. THIS IS NATIONAL SANITATION FOUNDATION NSF/ANSI STANDARD #41.
Sun-Mar is certified by the NSF under this stringent standard. Testing is conducted for 6 months at an NSF recognized, independent testing laboratory under a strict test protocol.
To be certified, the unit must operate odour-free at maximum capacity (including overload conditions) and produce clean, safe compost.

As additional verification, NSF obtains and tests additional compost samples from randomly selected field operations, and conducts interviews with the users of these units. For verification, please check the NSF website.
